Chiho Aoshima

Japanese pop artist Chiho ahoshima was born in Tokyo, Japan. With a mastery of computer technology and a vocabulary of images drawn from Japanese comics and animation, the Tokyo artist creates fantasy worlds in which hybridized creatures are participant in the composition's narrative as well as elements in a decorative scheme. Her works often involve surreal scenes and dreamscapes, including ghosts, demons, nature and young women. Aoshima has exhibited internationally, and her work is held in a number of collections- including Ackland Art Museum, North Carolina, and the Seattle Art Museum. She has also shown her work in London and NYC subway stations. Chiho says of her wistful art, "My work feels like strands of my thoughts that have flown around the universe before coming back to materialize"
