Damien Hirst Biography

Damien Hirst was born in Bristol in 1965. He grew up in Leeds with his mother, Mary Brennan, and his stepfather. He took a basic course at the Leeds School of Art before enrolling in a college where he was rejected by St. Martin.
Then ,he moved to London in 1986 where he was admitted in the course of Fine Arts at Goldsmiths College BA. He graduated in spring 1989.
While still a student in 1988, Damien created, organized and promoted "Freeze", an exhibition which is held in a warehouse in Docklands. This event includes several artworks by Damien, and other from his sixteen companions who studied in Goldsmiths.
